Eyes on the ground, heart racing a mile an hour, a dry throat, an eternity of silence…
The first time I spoke in front of a crowd was one that i tried to forget but could not. The memory of my fumble on stage haunted me. I wanted to improve as a speaker and after much thought, research and much, much procastination, I joined a Toastmasters club – Koramangala Toastmasters Club.
With a crowd that keeps smiliing even when you forget your speech, people who want and push you to improve, and a mentor that helps fix even my social skills, KTMC has become that one place I look forward to the entire week. The progress has been slow, but consistent. The content I write feels more impactful. I notice the nuances of a speech more – the nuances of humour, of drama, of motivation, of persuation. I feel more comfortable talking to others and talking in front of a crowd. My heart still runs a mile a minute, but my voice comes out strong and clear, my eyes are on the audience, I see them listening, I see myself speaking, I see myself changing.
Thank you KTMC and KTMCian for the challenges and the support.
